Spider vs Solar Wheel

by Steve on May 10, 2010

Burning Man is an event held yearly, near Labor Day in the USA, where 45,000 people congregate in the Black Rock Desert to basically share an experience in what is possible. From what was once an excuse to burn a huge wooden statue in a sort of pagan episode on a beach near San Fransisco, it has morphed into an event where people construct amazing machines, cars, clothing and art works in general using the latest technologies and near other-worldly art and costuming to have a party and show off their stuff. Here, in this video, we have a unique race between a couple of new age entrepreneurs, sporting their uber-fashionable products. We have “The Spider” – a vehicle propelled on top of 8 legs, versus a solar-powered Big Wheel in a drag race attended by revelers and very doubtfully wagered on by much of anyone. Especially since money is essentially outlawed at this affair. It’s pretty cool.
