Amazing Ferro Fluids

by Steve on February 26, 2010

Ferro fluids are hard to describe, although the second video below does a great and pretty clear job of it.  Essentially, it is composed of magnetic iron oxide nano-particles coated with an oily or liquid covering – a surfactant. A magnet does the rest. All of the action seen in this video is caused by varied magnetic impulses, arranged to satisfy the “artist’s” desired effect.

Funny, isn’t it? Art by magnetism.

Definitely visit the second video where the process is well-explained.
